Founded in 1882
The first Rikimatsu, originally from Hiratsuka in Kanagawa Prefecture, worked as a live-in servant for Taihei at the wholesale fish market in Nihonbashi. After gaining independence from Taihei, he established Dairiki Shoten at the same wholesale fish market in 1882. The store name “Dairiki” was created by combining one Chinese character each from “Taihei” and his name “Rikimatsu.”
The Great Kanto Earthquake in September 1923 significantly damaged the Nihonbashi wholesale fish market, leading to its relocation to Tsukiji.
Shigeru, the second generation, took over his predecessor’s name, “Rikimatsu.” The second Rikimatsu, known for his excellent reputation as a fair judge, became a pioneer of “Chayamonoya,” accepting orders from trendy and upscale Japanese restaurants and delivering the requested products the very next day. He also offered support to chefs from the Kansai region, who were seldom seen in Tokyo at the time, nurturing them into top-notch chefs.

1950
Dairiki Shoten Co., Ltd. was established
The second Rikimatsu passed away unexpectedly at the age of 55 in 1950. Because Shigeo, his third son, was still a minor at the time, his wife, Katsu, assumed the role of Rikimatsu, becoming the third holder of the name. That same year, Dairiki Shoten was reorganized as a joint-stock company called “Dairiki Shoten Co., Ltd.” Two years later, Shigeo became the fourth Rikimatsu at the age of 20. He oversaw chief clerks as the head of the counting house and ran the company successfully for nearly 50 years.

Inheriting the values of predecessors to the present day
In 2009, Masaru, the second son of the fourth Rikimatsu Shigeo, succeeded his father as the fifth president of Dairiki Shoten. Following the closure of the Tsukiji wholesale fish market in October 2018, the company relocated to the Toyosu market, where it continues to operate today. As the fifth president, he regards every customer as important and greets them with a smile, performing his duties conscientiously.
The tireless efforts of our predecessors have shaped Dairiki Shoten into what it is today. We strive to provide the freshest fish to the best chefs while adapting to the evolving needs of the times.
